Kyuss - Black Widow

The group disbanded in 1997. They felt that they were in a decline and felt it best to call it quits before it escalated into something that could not be fixed. The line up had shifted dramatically between 1989 and 1997. Josh Homme, John Garcia, Brant Bjork, and Chris Cockrell were the original members. Chris was replaced by Nick Oliveri during high school. That line up recorded "Wretch" (released in 1991) and "Blues For The Red Sun" (released in 1992), after which Nick soon left. The eight year older, but very able Scott Reeder from "The Obsessed" (metal band from Maryland) was brought in. This line up recorded the famous self titled album "Kyuss" (released in 1994). Brank Bjork left after this due to personal reasons. Alfredo Hernandez was brought in. The final line up recorded "…And the Circus Leaves Town" (released in 1995). The band toured and soon disbanded. With the compilation "Muchas Gracias: The Best Of Kyuss", one final greatest hits CD was released in 2000.

A lot of bands have been inspired by Kyuss, including Electric Wizard, Monster Magnet, Orange Goblin, Beaver, Dozer, Los Natas, Truckfighters, Acid King, Fu Manchu, Clutch, Pelican, Torche.

In the following audio we listen the song "Black Widow", which is the last one in this sort tribute for Kyuss. Enjoy it!

Kyuss - Space Cadet

The band was originally formed in 1989 in Palm Desert, California under the name "Sons Of Kyuss". Actually, they started in 1988 as Katzenjammer, which later became "Sons Of Kyuss" - a name taken from a monster in the game "Dungeons & Dragons" - under which they released an eponymous demo. After their bass player at the time Chris Cockrell left, "Sons Of Kyuss" shortened their name to just "Kyuss" in the beginning of 1991.

Over the next five years the band released four full length albums, and one last EP compilation in 1997 entitled "Queens Of The Stone Age". This nicely tied up the loose ends of Kyuss and introduced the sound of the popular band "Queens Of The Stone Age", which several "Kyuss" members later joined.

The quartet gained popularity around the desert due to their famous generator parties. These were parties fueled by gas generators in the canyons and isolated desert surrounding the small valley towns (we 'll continue with the same group in the next post).

Second song in this 3 posts-tribute is the audio with the title "Space Cadet". It's not a simple song. It's a hymn! I hope you ''ll agree with me. Enjoy!

Little Richard - Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On

Richard Wayne Penniman (born December 5, 1932), known by the stage name Little Richard, is an American singer, songwriter, pianist and recording artist, considered key in the transition from rhythm and blues to rock and roll in the 1950s.

Eventhough he is very peculiar and eccentric (he was also a homosexual and a preacher so that i prefer more to listen and less to see him), he is one of the leaders of the rock'n'roll music scene. Anyway, the fact is that he doesn't need more recommendations, everyone knows him, even though so many years have passed since the age that he was specially famous!

In this post we 'll listen this legendary figure on the song which has the title "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On"... We 'll continue with the same artist also in the next post...
