Jeff Beck - Beck's Bolero

I have made one post for him in the past but tonight i thought that it wasn't enough! That's why i decided to rectify...

Geoffrey Arnold "Jeff" Beck (born 24 June 1944) is an English rock guitarist. Whether playing alone or with his band, his sound is excellent! The artist has outstanding collaborations too (Mick Jagger, Kate Bush, Roger Waters, Stevie Wonder, Les Paul, Zucchero, Cyndi Lauper, Brian May, ZZ Top, Yardbirds a.o)...

Jeff Beck has earned wide critical praise so far! He was ranked 14th in Rolling Stone Magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time". MSNBC has called him a "guitarist's guitarist" and Rolling Stone magazine has described him as "one of the most influential lead guitarists in rock". Furthermore, he has received the Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance five times and he has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice! He also made a cameo appearance in the movie "Twins" (1988).

Much of Beck's recorded output has been instrumental, with a focus on innovative sound and his releases have spanned genres ranging from blues-rock, heavy metal, jazz fusion and most recently, an additional blend of guitar-rock and electronica. As an example, in the following video you 'll see the great artist getting closer to classical music, trying Maurice Ravel's masterpiece, the world famous "Bolero"!

Albert King - Born Under A Bad Sign

"Born Under A Bad Sign" is a blues album by Albert King. The album became one of the most popular and influential blues albums of all time and has been acknowledged by the "Grammy Hall Of Fame', the "Blues Foundation Hall Of Fame", and "Rolling Stone" magazine.

The album was first released in 1967. In 1998 "Sundazed Records" reissued the album with two additional bonus tracks, "Funk-Shun" and "Overall Junction", both written by Albert King.

It was the first album by Albert King for "Stax Records" and his second album overall. It is composed of singles released by King recorded between March 1966 and June 1967, with additional studio tracks. It was the great divide of modern blues, the point at which the music was rescued from slipping into derivative obscurity. Part of the album's success has been attributed to Booker T. and the MGs who gave his blues a sleek, soulful sound which gave King crossover appeal. Four of the album's songs became modern blues classics: "Born Under A Bad Sign", "Oh Pretty Woman", "The Hunter", and "Crosscut Saw". Together with "Personal Manager" and "Laundromat Blues", they formed the very foundation of Albert King's musical identity and legacy.

Albert King's guitar work on the album directly influenced legions of guitar players! It was really a profoundly influential album, not only in blues, but also in rock. Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Stevie Ray Vaughan have acknowledged King's influence; indeed, some of their guitar solos are close approximations to those found on "Born Under A Bad Sign".
